Managed by Ted Drake, described as one of the first tracksuit managers, Drake was a master motivator and a hard taskmaster in training. Team included Roy Bentley (150 goals for Chelsea), Ron Greenwood, and Alan Dicks who both went on to be have successful managerial careers with England and Bristol City respectively.
